Homelessness Can Happen to Anyone

At WISEPlace, we serve unaccompanied individuals experiencing homelessness who often lack the support system of a spouse, significant other, or children. It’s a population that is severely under-served and overlooked nationally and locally. The numbers are startling: 1 in 3 homeless individuals is an unaccompanied woman. That’s 30% of the homeless population, but WISEPlace is where they can get the help and support necessary to rebuild their lives.

The reality of homelessness is that it can happen to anyone. It’s a myth to think that mental illness and substance abuse are the primary reasons. The three most common factors in Orange County are related to employment, lack of affordable housing, and family dysfunction such as domestic violence. WISEPlace is here to support unaccompanied women experiencing homelessness, no matter how they got there.
